WELCOME TO OUR RANCH

Welcome to Humble Beginnings Ranch located in St. Johns, Michigan, which is about thirty minutes North of Lansing, Michigan. We are a regenerative farm striving to restore our land one acre at a time. Our animals are born and raised on our ranch, roaming freely in a natural environment while enjoying prairie grasses, pastures and cover crops. Everything that we do on our ranch is done out of love, respect and care for our animals and our land. We are raising animals with true stories behind them so our consumers can visualize and know exactly where their food comes from. We hope that our regenerative farm will be one of the many regenerative farms of the future.

Our Bison

December 26, 2014 my parents and I drove to New Rockford, ND to the Kenmar Ranch to pick up 15 bison girls. Ten were were a year old and five were calves. Then traveled to Nine O'Diamond bison ranch in Indiana and picked up my bull who was a year old before traveling home. We arrived home with the bison on December 28. We drove 18 hours there, slept for 6 hours, and drove 23 hours home. Whew, what an amazing trip!! AND so the journey begins...

Our Natives

In the summer of 2015 we started our journey of turning our farm that has been in row crops for over 100 years into native plantings. We planted 115 acres into native grasses and forbs beginning our transition of our farm acre by acre out of row crops and into prairies. We started our journey of healing and leaving our land better than when we found it.
